“President Trump deserves tremendous credit today for his comprehensive plan to address immigration reform. Our current immigration system was designed for a 1960s American society and economy. America has changed substantially since then, and it's critical that President Trump begins to get the ball rolling towards reforming our broken system that rewards law-breaking at the expense of American citizens and legal immigrants.

“President Trump’s proposal features a merit-based system that attracts the best and brightest, secures the border, and addresses temporary work needs of both legal immigrants and the American economy. Under Trump’s reforms, the rules will be clear, fair and objective, with consequences for law-breaking.”

“The President has taken an important step forward in reworking our broken immigration system. The components of his proposal are supported by a large majority of Americans. It’s now up to Congressional Democrats to decide whether they will put the country ahead of partisan rhetoric.”
