NRA Leadership Infighting
http://www.batr.org/terror/043019.html

The present National Rifle Association dust-up between Wayne LaPierre and Oliver North has many supporters of the pro gun organization concerned. For the casual observer, the underlying dispute does not appear on the radar screen. The persona of Wayne LaPierre has been a NRA fixture for decades, while Oliver North bears the baggage of the surreptitious Iran–Contra affair. Just maybe, the NRA is in need of new blood to defend the second amendment and explain that a well armed citizenry is essential to achieve a free society. While there are several advocate groups that champion individual possession of fire arms, the NRA maintains a high public profile.

The details regarding this feud are summed up in the report; Wayne LaPierre says new NRA president Oliver North is extorting him.

"At the heart of the conflict between the two execs is a legal battle between the NRA and one of their contractors, media company Ackerman McQueen.

The NRA sued Ackerman McQueen, which operates online video service NRATV, earlier this month, claiming they hid information about how they spend the tens of millions of dollars the NRA gives them annually.

Ackerman McQueen employs North, who hosts a documentary series on NRATV.

LaPierre claims in the letter that the media company pays North millions of dollars annually for his work on the series, but the company has only produced three episodes in the last year."

With the election of President Trump, the general attitude among gun owners is that the danger of stern gun limitations has lessened. However, the radical left has exerted their efforts to pass restrictive state legislations wherever possible. So the need to become creative with the public relations message is imperative.

Within this context the NRA CEO Slams 'Offer I Couldn't Refuse' From NRA President. LaPierre vs. North is being fought out among NRA officials.

"Wayne LaPierre says he was recently made "an offer I couldn't refuse"—but "I refused it." Per the Wall Street Journal, the CEO and executive vice president of the National Rifle Association delivered a stunning letter to the NRA's board Thursday, one that revealed what LaPierre says is a "threat meant to intimidate and divide us." That threat, he alleges, is an attempt by NRA President Oliver North—along with Ackerman McQueen, one of the association's vendors—to force LaPierre to step down from his role with the group or face "destructive allegations made against me and the NRA." In his letter, LaPierre contends North called one of his senior staff members on Wednesday and said that Ackerman McQueen had a letter on the ready that would be "bad" for LaPierre, the NRA, and two members of LaPierre's executive team."

Not surprisingly, North lost this battle as NRA ousts president Oliver North after alleged extortion scheme against chief executive.

"National Rifle Association President Oliver North has been ousted after an alleged extortion scheme within the group’s highest-ranking officials came to light on Friday. In a statement, North told the organization he was “informed” he would not be nominated for reelection. North’s term ends Monday.

On Saturday, at the NRA’s annual meeting in Indianapolis, Richard Childress, a vice president at the NRA, read what amounted to a resignation letter from North that announced and explained his departure.

“Please know I hoped to be with you today as NRA president endorsed for reelection,” North wrote. “I’m now informed that will not happen.”

Having never been a fan of Oliver North, it seems that the Colonel has done his covert work well. New York Attorney General Launches Investigation Into the National Rifle Association. "The announcement comes just hours after and the pro-gun group's president, Oliver North, announced that he has been ousted, and The Daily Beast exclusively reported that longtime NRA lawyer, Steve Hart, has been suspended."

Do you really think this is just a coincidence? Even a constructive critic and member of the NRA, Mark Walters chimes in on the current state of affairs in To NRA or Not to NRA.

"Look, the NRA needs some work, a ton of work. Read the excellent piece from my friend Jeff Knox here at here at AmmoLand earlier this week, and God forbid, if some of the leftist hit work over the last few days is correct, it can’t happen soon enough. Here’s why – If you think as, a gun owner, that the implosion and subsequent collapse of the National Rifle Association is a good thing, you’re a damn fool. Especially as we approach an election where every lefty kook running and every leader of the Socialist party formerly known as Democrats has embraced New Zealand's confiscation of guns as their goal for America. Such an event (collapse of NRA) would hand the worst enemies of our right to bear arms this nation has ever seen, the most massive PR coup in recent American history. Bloomberg and every one of his paid freedom-haters, the hateful socialist Democrat party, and the loony Moms Demand Action bunch among many others, will claim a victory which in turn will set the stage for the imminent destruction of our Second Amendment rights within our lifetimes."

Yet the fundamental beneficial purpose of a strong NRA voice, while revamping a robust message and effective leadership is crucial. Less they forget, the younger generations desperately need to reflect upon the wisdom of their heritage as stated by a true American Patriot, Charlton Heston.

"In his May 20, 2000 speech at the 129th NRA Convention in Charlotte, N.C., Heston said, “When ordinary hands can possess such an extraordinary instrument, that symbolizes the full measure of human dignity and liberty. That's why those five words issue an irresistible call to us all, and we muster.”

Then holding up a replica of a 19th century Sharps rifle, Heston continued, “So as we set out this year to defeat the divisive forces that would take freedom away, I want to say those fighting words for everyone within the sound of my voice to hear and to heed -- and especially for you, Mister Gore: From my cold, dead hands!”
