OUR GRADUAL DESCENT INTO HUMAN DEPRAVITY

Since I am in the “Autumn of my years”, whenever I have a conservation with this generation of young men and women I sometimes get the feeling that we are not in sync with each other. How can we be? Their shorter time on earth can hardly match the experiences I’ve had; their means of communication is much different from my day; technology has put their lives on a plane that’s far from ours, and passing decades has brought a myriad of changes that separates their young “reality” environment from old timers like me.

It troubles me, but I certainly understand our perceptive differences. For example, in Gone With the Wind (1939) today’s young people would find Rhett Butler’s harsh utterance to Scarlett O’Hara, as he was leaving her, “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn!“, almost laughable. Yesterday’s audiences, however, gasped at hearing “that word” on the screen for the first time.

And the subtleties on yesterday’s screen couldn’t even hint at what was to come in not many more years. An example of those subtleties was a movie in which Irene Dunn tells Cary Grant that she’ll give him no love until after Christmas. It’s still November, but Grant shows up at the door wearing a Santa Clause hat. Yesterday’s audience “gets it” and laughs. Today’s audience would gag on that one.

To you that may sound prudish, out-of-date and soft soapy, but comparing those scenes with what the movie studios foist on us today gives a perfect indication of the depth of depravity into which America is sinking. The lowering standards of decency and propriety are seen everywhere. Women’s bathing suits used to show just enough flesh to be enticing; now the few inches of flesh they do cover leaves little to the imagination. In movies, love scenes no longer bother with just kissing and hugging; now couples indulge in open-mouth kissing, face licking, clothes shedding and sensuous movements, often in the nude. And this is putting it mildly. The “R” movies—which could be “X”—go just short of all the way.

Believing we’re stepping forward we are actually moving backward. And the driving force behind our retreat from the “old” America’s virtue and integrity is the prurient interest we all have, and hide, but is a curse of human nature we must live with. But it is a fact of human nature that is most impressionable.
And one which the evil ones in this country tempt us with into submission to make manifest their nefarious agendas.

And at the movie level are clear examples of how prurient interest is being used to gradually bring down the Godly goodness of this incomparable nation.

Two movies, Disclosure and Basic Instinct, with Michael Douglas, Demi Moore and Sharon Stone, have scenes which show the couples in bed, stark naked, engaged in sexual intercourse of the most intimate nature. (Disclosure is billed as a “fantastic, sexy thriller masterfully done.”) We’re not yet debauched enough to want to see the sex organs in motion. That delightful moment is left to producers of porno-movies in X-rated stores. But the way the American audience is being primed for complete moral corruption “X” movies will eventually be as common as horse apples in a Texas parade.

But this is still only the beginning of America’s collapse into the pit of moral degradation. Soon to follow will be titillating sexual activities next to impossible for most viewers to look away from; such as deliberate pornographic movies and plays, same-sex love making, oral sex, group sex, sodomy, perhaps even bestiality, and anything else the “progressive” mind is capable of contemplating.
You can see for yourself how the mind-destroying forces are already hard at work on your brain, when you can hardly find a movie today that doesn’t contain several mentions of the “F” word.
Yes, we’ve come a long way since Clark Gable’s, “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn!”
Well, I give a damn! I can’t believe we’re content to sit in mindless depravity and watch his great Republic go down for good.
